Policy Statement

The Office of Special Events plans the University’s major public and private events involving the participation of the Chancellor and President and the Vice Chancellor and Provost. Two annual events of this nature are the Chancellor’s Convocation for New Students and all activities of Commencement weekend.

Other events planned by this office include the awarding of honorary degrees, installation of academic deans, groundbreaking and dedication of new buildings and acquisitions, recognition of visiting dignitaries, honoring of outstanding faculty and students, and celebrations involving ceremony and protocol.

The Office of Special Events serves also as consultant for event planning by schools, colleges and departments.
