Policy Statement

The employment of minors under age 16 is prohibited. Employment of minors between the ages of 16 and 18 is permissible provided the prospective employee furnishes working papers (New York State Education Department’s Student General Employment Certificate — form AT-19-4 27720). Because minors are restricted from performing certain types of work, the terms and conditions of employment must be approved by the Office of Human Resources.
